dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT Our state is extremely vulnerable to natural calamities and often faces severe disasters resulting in mass destruction and property loss. The project aims to designing a flood and earthquake monitoring and warning system that is capable of detecting flood and earthquake as well as warning people to take necessary precautions. This system will not only attempt to save lives by informing the rescue team immediately but also make possible the residents to seek help whenever needed. Unlike existing systems that deals with aftershock management this project deals with on-time management. Vibration sensors and moisture sensors are deployed for sensing the parameters and on the basis of this early warning system is developed to minimize losses. An automatic disaster alert system is designed which is controlled and co-ordinate by a programmed microcontroller unit. The float sensors detect the water level and its readings reach the control unit wirelessly (via RF communication). The program loaded in the microcontroller continuously monitor these readings and provide appropriate alerts if necessary. The vibration sensor is for detecting the earth-vibration and the emergency switch is for the emergency triggering purposes (for any help). The soil moisture level also monitor continuously. The monitoring and triggering information’s (with exact GPS location) are transmitted to the authorized persons through Wi-Fi communication. en_US
