dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT Presenting a safety driving and accident preventing system which uses a vision sensor to detect driver drowsiness and lethargic states. The system notifies the driver in dangerous situations. Moreover, in case the driver is unable to conduct safe driving, emergency parking system is to be activated. The system comprises three stages. First is a safety checks, it comprises of the checking of alcohol content in driver. The vehicle will not move if the driver is drunk. It is a locking method that locks the movement of the motor by disabling further output from the MCU. Second is the Drowsiness detection stage which uses a camera and related algorithms as a processing unit. The system assesses the ability of conducting safe driving and notifies the driver for any dangerous situation. Moreover, safety actions are to be performed by an embedded vehicle controlling system. The third stage is the vehicle emergency parking control system which uses a microcontroller unit (MCU). The system so designed is a non-intrusive real-time monitoring system. The priority is on improving the safety of the driver without being obtrusive. In this project the eye blink of the driver is detected. If the driver’s eyes remain closed for more than a certain period, the driver is said to be drowsy and an alarm is sounded. en_US
